In Memory
Of Those Who Made
The Supreme Sacrifice
In World War 1939-1945
(corner of Princes Highway and Beaconsfield-Emerald Road, Beaconsfield)
(1st plaque)
(1st plaque)
Beaconsfield Avenue of Honour 1914-1918
In 1928
Beaconsfield Progress Association applied to the Country Roads Board to plant
the Avenue and funding was provided by Ada Armytage. Black poplar trees were planted in 1929 to
honour the 65 servicemen from Beaconsfield and district who served in World
War1.
Metal
templates were made and later found in storage, but in poor condition.
In 2014 The
Beaconsfield Progress Association Inc. and Cardinia Shire Council created
bronze name plaques for the servicemen with funding provided by the State
Government of Victoria.
The trees
can be viewed looking up the highway from Beaconsfield to Berwick.
